Very common with the Bose radios. Yes an aftermarket radio will work and play fine through the speakers.

Don't you need an adapter to convert the screwy 1ohm impedance of the Bose to 4-8ohm's? Or is that just a 3/4 gen thing?

No an adaptor isnt needed. Its also not a 3/4 gen thing. None of the Maximas "need" and adaptor. The Bose HU provides a signal sent to the amps similiar to that of RCA preouts of an aftermarket HU. Thus only needing to splice female RCA leads to the speakers leads of the factory wiring then plug them into your RCA preout section of your aftermarket HU.

I don't see why all these new max buyers keep getting Bose...paying more money for things that have already been proven to go wrong in other generations...STOP GETTING BOSE!

hey pearlmax96

I went to curcuit city they want $55 just to rewire it not to mention additional b.s.

i can do it myself.....i used to put radios in cars...i have an amp installed already and it has the adapter piece to make rca in the bose....i wont need that anymore because of the aftermarket radio right?

my question is it simple to put the radio in and rewire it?how long you think it will take?

thanks

People are getting it A: because they bought the car used and it wasnt an option to not take it or B: becuase its part of a package and not a single optional item. I have BLose in my '03 Altima and only because I wanted leather with heat,etc...

No you wont need the adaptor anymore. It is a generally simple job to do especially considering your not using the factory amp anymore, IF your aftermarket amp is running your interior speakers. If its not then still a simple install and you would need to use the splicing of female RCA leads route.

Yes - whats this about not needing an adapter anymore... is this because the newer aftermarket HU's have preamp outs? - so you can continue to use the existing speakers amps that are part of the bose setup?

Don/Pearl96Max please elaborate - you have some very valuable knowledge!

BLACKICE and njmodi...it is nothing new and adaptors were never actually "needed". Just another item for retailers to gain a profit on. I do not like to do my business that way.

As far as the actually connections..Simply put when you use your aftermarket wiring harness to install the radio connect the speakers leads to RCA ends instead of directly to the aftermarket radio. The plug them into the preout section of the headunit. Done.
