WHAT kinda box and amp for a 12"JLW3v2

Ok I want this thing to hit pretty hard but I don't want my trunk to be all used up!
I'm gonna be getting a JLW3V2 12". On their site it says it has 300 watt continuious output. is that 300 watt RMS?
What wattage amp would be needed to move this sucka? I want to use a JL amp, any suggestions on that.
And finally what type of box? Sealed or ported? What offer best sound quality but can still pound!

Thanks everone I'm slowly pieceing my system together thanks to alot of y'all's input.

THanks again
Ryan

jl 250/1 amp from jl wil go with that. id use a sealed box for the jl's. maybe about 1.5 cuft to get you the output you want.

why only 250? if it is a 300 watt continous? I'm lost....so the sealed would still pound, and have a decent SQ?

you dont necessarily have to run it at full rms. i dont believe any jl audio class d amp does 300 watts... unless they underrated them. for solid sq go with sealed. what "pounds" i cant answer because people who have never had a system think 1 10" pounds. its all on the setup.

I have the v2 and I think they require at least 1.25 cu ft. So 1.5 is fine and easy. Pounding is all a relative term I guess. For me it ounds enough. I rarely have that thing even close to full volume unless maybe I was outside the car. Some people are more deaf than others I guess. haha

Well I kinda know about what "pounds" an old friend of mine used to have a chevy s10 crew cab pickup with 8 15" subs, that was crazy! but Last spring break we hooked up to 10" Pionner Premiere subs to 1000 watt amp and amn that POUNDED! But I want something that will BUMP! Would having a larger sealed both help the effieciency of the sub, hence more air? I'm getting new VR series components for the interior and a 4 channel amp for the interiors. I just want some serious bass to go along with my new and improved mids and highs..
thanks guys!

well i feel running a 250 watt amp as compared to a 1,000 watt amp is not the same in loudness. doubling your amplifier= it sounding twice as loud. but it all depends on the car, install (what sub, amp, box). hitmanse can pound with around 400 watts no problem... but hes got a large 15" sub in a large ported box. if are very concerned about trunk space you probably cant get a system to pound unless its something like an l7.

500/1 JL mono Amp with JL spec vented port box. Check pg.3 on the link provided below. Bass will be rediculous & the box won't eat up your entire trunk.
