Is the dude at bestbuy right? or wrong?

Ok. So i got 4 4channel 6.5's in my doors, and a basslink in the trunk. I wanted to add 2 6X9's to the rear deck, And upgrade the basslink to 2x 10" or 12" subs. So i go to bestbuy for his opinion on it, and he tells me that it cant be done, unless i went components, and a decent set up would cost crazy money. he said that the best Headunit comes with at most 3 preouts, and they would all be used up 1 for front speaks, 1 for rear speaks, and 1 for sub. He went on to say that I could still upgrade the basslink to two ten or twelve inch subs, but the 6X9s was out, unless i found a headunit that had 4 preouts, and even then it wouldnt be worth it. Is he right? How difficult is it to get 4 pre outs. I really Really want a 6+ speaker setup inside the car. I need your collective wisdom. Thanks

More isnt always better. But if you still want more, then do a 3way setup in the front and then your rears. That would be the more proper way to do it anyway. There are no HUs with 4 preouts. There is no use for them.

best buy salesmen are often wrong about most subjects. they're salesmen, not professional installers. don't forget that. you should ge components though. the difference is amazing. tweeter is probably teh best place for installs. never leave your car alone with the guys at best buy. the'll scratch your vinyl up something awful...

Truthfully, your probably going to kill your soundstage with 6x9's in the back. You will hear more from the back than the front.

6x9s in the rear deck are the worst idea ever. Especially since he already has rear speakers. Those things will move the soundstage something wicked, and they resonate off the back glass and it's just a mess. It's a good spot if you just want something loud, but if you want it to sound like music, then forget it. Change the fronts to components and do the bass upgrade.

So you guys think 6X9's in back is a horrible idea?
What about if i made them really weak speakers. The front n backs are running at 100 watts, what if i made the 6X9s run at like 70 instead? I like the 6X9's i got chosen cause they got LEDs in them and look wicked pretty. If that doesnt work ill just give up on it, cause i do like sound quality more then loudness, they get loud enough already. I guess depending on what you guys think of that ill just put more effort into the sub enclosure behind the seat instead. You guys are SO helpful.

You could always just add LEDs/neon to dress up the car instead of adding 6x9s just because they have lights on them.

A MONKEY with installation experience would know HOW to install it, but most would advise that you not do it.

Yes, 6x9s in the back are a bad idea.

If you want to make them "weak," why bother getting them at all?

If you think that the LEDs will look "wicked pretty" (bad choice, IMO, but it is your car and your call), then like the guy above said, just get LEDs and be done with it.
