Opinions on amp

Boss Riot RT-735. I bought it for my setup and i do like it quite a bit. But it seems that from the reviews ive read on it, that alot of people dont like it at all.
Im a bit confused cause even tho for example, my car lacks a little midrange, it does handle the lows, and is great at the highs due to i guess the 8 tweeters that the speakers have. (total) would this lack of "midrange" be because of the amp?. Im pretty new to car stereo so be gentle if i say something stupid lol.

Here is a good rule of thumb to remember for future purchases.

(A really good high quality amp should cost about a $1 a watt or more. So a 1,000 watt amp should be in the neiborhood of $1,000 bucks.)

8 tweeters cause i got pioneer 4 ways, each got 1 tweet and a super tweet, and i got 4 of em so..
wow, so that being said, at 1$per watt, this amp really isnt high quality whatsoever. what amp do you guys think is good for 4x100? that you know is of great quality?

ok I think $1/amp is exagerated

But I can tell you that if you would like your car catching on fire then you made the right amp choice. No really, Boss amps are horrible.

lol. wow 8 tweeters. anyway the $1 per watt is maybe a retail price but still high. a pg tantrum 1200.1 puts out about 1400 watts yet costs below $400 i believe.

That $1/watt rule of thumb is an old one, and is probably a little outdated due to electrical prices dropping and inflation. My buddy followed that rule when he did the stereo in his new Intrepid in 1995!

But a never outdated rule of thumb is this: if it's a flea market brand, don't buy it!

To really show you how bad these bootleg brands are think about this.

My friend recently had his car broken into. They stole his face place (not the head unit =/) along with his subs. They left the amp in the car because it was SO bootleg they didn't even want to steal it (the brand was performance techniques).

a good amp is not going to cost 100 buck's. I got a 801 Rockford about 4 month ago and dam i paid about 500 buck's at best buy and i am happey i think its better to spend the 500 buck's then 200 buck's every 6 to 8 months.

You can get some decent amps without spending crazy money. The SQ and reliability does vary although not necessarily directly correlated with price.
