For those have upgraded Stock Speaker wiring

Did it have a signifigant effect on teh SQ of the speaker? The wiring looks really flimsy like 20 gauge or something, it also is very dirty looking even from a fresh splice! Who has ran all new wiring? is it holding the sound of my quarts back? Would changing to some 16 gauge OFC make a noticable difference?THANKS!

the only reason anyone would upgrade the wires is when they powering speakers from amps. Most people have Bose systems and NEED to rewire, in order to use aftermarket systems.

if you are running your speakers off your deck, there is no reason to rewire.

Yes, I have a system. I have two 6.5 ref quarts running off a bridged alpine v12 at 100wpc, then a pair of Jl 8's running off the sub channel. Basically the amp is running in "tri-mode" The shop used the existing bose wire and spliced into it from the trunk, dont ask me how, but it runs. But the wire seems to be of very poor quality.

Rewire it and you will never have to question the wire again. I used 14 gauge and have never had a problem. Do it right the first time and you won't have to 'fix' it later.
