Installing a amp..HELP

Okay I've never installed an amp and Im installing one in my other car (which is a 99 Z24 Cavy) Can someone help me with the installing process. Is there anything that I shouldnt do (like plug the power wire up first or something) or should do first. It has a factory Radio so there is no remote wiring so where should I tap in? PLEASE HELP I really dont want to burn this amp I brought it brand new and no shops around here that are worth going too.

2 12" sub in a box and 700W alpine amp.

Please help would really apperate.
Thanks

Well the official way to be safe is to disconnect the negative battery terminal. My way is to just take the fuse out of your amp's power cable (the one near the battery) until you are all done. I don't usually disconnect the battery unless I will be drilling or cutting and have the possibility of hitting other wires.

For the remote turn on, you could do two things. The first is to just connect it to the accessory power of the car, so the amp goes on with the car. The second is to put a simple toggle switch on it. So now even if the car is on and you want to turn off the amp, you just flip the switch.
