still cranking after the storm
On friday i rented a Grand Am from Avis since my car was in the shop, and although there was nothing really great about that car there was something i did like.
The fact that you could still listen to the stereo even with the car turned off and the key out of the ignition, but it turns off as soon as the driver door opens.
question. is it possible to mod that on the max

It would take some planning and charisma to do it...
Basically, just wire a relay from the door switch to activate the 12V lead over to your head unit. Very simple to do. Just running the wires for the relay is the hard part, which really isn't THAT hard anyway.
Good luck...
Good idea too! My dad's silverado does this also.

*EDIT* Oh yeah, you would also need to change the 12v lead to your HU to a constant 12v source instead of a switch source which it is now.

I can have my car in the semi-on position (the first click before the whole instrument panel lights up but the CD player can play). I can also take my key out of the ignition anytime I way to while playing my radio. Sorry to rant about this continue on....
