thump after shutting off help

thump after shutting off help

Every time i turn off my car after having the music playing about 5 seconds later the sub lets out one thump, what exactly is this. Is it a problem, if so what could be causing it and how do i fix it, thanks

i had that when i had my amp hooked up to the stock non bose h/u. its fine. but i cant tell you why it does that.

i have everything aftermarket as far as audio goes. mine does it too. did it in my 99 infiniti too

its the amplifier releasing the energy thats stored inside it. alot of times amps have soft turn-on and soft turn-off so you never hear that, sometimes it goes away. an easy fix is to put a switch on the remote wire going to the amp, and turn it off before you turn the stereo or the car off and the thump won't happen.

Higher end amps don't have turn on/turn-off thump noises. Their circuitry are much better than the least expensive amps. Also, it depends on the manufacturer. The most common brand names are good from eliminating this noise.

it doesn't really bother me, just makin sure it wasn't something wrong
