If you're referring to putting 6x9's in the back deck, you should be able to mount them from underneath the back deck (inside the trunk), instead of trying to mount them on top of the back deck from inside the car.

This has always worked for me. Just be careful not to use long screws that will go through your back deck.

one word...Dremel. no maixma comes with 6x9 they all have 6.5 if u want a 6x9 your going to either half to cut the rear deck with a dremel. i wouldnt reccomend mounting them underneath becuase if they have any excursion ir will mess up the speaker real quick.

But the adapters tend to change the sound. Think of a megaphone. The best way is you take a dremel tool and cut the deck to make them fit, and just top mount them. Its a bit more work, but since you have to pull the back deck apart to get the old speakers out, whats another 15 minutes of cutting?

when a speaker is playing watch it, the inside part of it will be moving up and down, thats the excusion of the speaker, with a 6x9 expecially they produce a decent amt of bass and bass makes the cone move the most. now imagine if that movement was being abruptly stopped by something like the rear deck, the full sound wont get out of the speaker and it will become muffled and distorted very quickly.

Possible way to go about this if you're into doing it right. Uhm..sound is round. Just remember that before you go cramming a 6x9 in there.

hey guys i did this exact thing in my car.. to tell you the honest truth its the biggest pain in the a$$, not worth it.. just sell them and get 6.5's.., not to mention its not an exact fit. maybe i just did a crap job..probably because it was frustrating, anyways here you go:

Incorrect.

He has a 3rd gen, in which case they Did come with 6X9s for the Bose option. Actually so did 2nd gens as well....

Spyhunter..as everyone else said it is easier and "better" sound going with a round speaker or more appropriately a 6.5.
