Power Inverter Question

I bought 400W power inverter and in order to use all 400W I think it has to run from the battery (or un-fused power source) and not from cigarette lighter. My question is this: Is there an un-fused power source near the dash or is there another way of wiring this? I want to install it under the passanger seat.

for a 400w inverter i wouldnt recomend anythig but a nice gauge wire and running it from the battery. those wires inside are to flimsy and imo wouldnt be too safe. i have my power inverter stored in my glove box with a 4 gauge wire running from my battery w/ a fuse in line. everything runs good with exception to the loud *** fan in my inverter.

that inverter is capable of consuming 30 or more amps, so you should wire it to the battery and fuse it. safe to assume that is 400 watts max? if so use a 30 amp fuse. i don't know why it would say "un-fused power source", that makes no sense. it has to be fused.

the internal fuse will only protect the unit from an internal electrical failure. if your power wire feeding the unit were to short, there could be a fire if the power wire is not fused. it is the same reason why the power cable for the amps in the car is fused no more than 18" away from the battery post.
