well my friend jus put some in his car and i figured id do the same... monkey see mokey doo lol.

im going to put four inside the cabin and one long tube in the trunk.

inside the cabin i want to have 1 tube under each seat, and 1 tube under each side of the dash. i really want to have them all wired to one switch and i wanted to check with you guys if its a good idea or if its safe to do that. what guage wire do i use?

for you guys who put them under the dash how did u mount it, did you screw it in or what.

did you run a fuse in line? i dont think my friend did this.

what size tube did u use, im gonna go wih 12 inch for inside and 24 inch in the trunk.

now for the trunk, i wanted to wire it to the light that comes on in the trunk so that when i open the trunk it automatically comes on and turns off when i close it. does that sound like a good idea.

lend me any advice or pictures or anything to help me on my way, and if you have nuthin constructive to add jus pass through, im lookin for help not insults.

i wanted to do this by myself then suprise my friend cause he thinks i cant do it. help me provr him wrong.

A while back, I saw a show on tv about lighting for computer cases and cars. Its basically neon light tape that you can cut and bend to whatever you need. I looked it up a while back, and basically forgot about it because I didnt use it for a computer, and I'm not all that much for neon in the car. The company that I have heard the best reviews for is http://www.beingseen.com/ . Im not sure how well it works, but it seems like an easy and cool idea, and it might be easier to fit places that you want it. Not to mention, its relatively cheap.

 

my friend made a speaker box with all plexi and a glass inside of it with a black light, so whenever the bass hits it looks like the box is moving. like some illusional shiit

this is jus a project to keep me busy, ill only use em when parked jus to show what i have done to my ride.

 

i have 2 15" blue neon tube under both driver and passenger's seat. they are hardwired to ash try (not cig) lighter. i used 20 gauge amp there...sliced the positive (12v) to the ash try light, and grounded to one of those 10mm bolt which provides stable ground from chasis. so at night when i turn on my headlight, my neon turns on as well. during the day it stays off.

 

Don't use neons. Use CCL lighting like I used for my trunk. Cold Cathode Lighting is much brighter especially with the high output inverters and lasts on average around 20,000 hours and can stand up to vibration better than neons can. You can also get CCL tubes in thinner dimension than you can for neon.

You can definitely use the trunk light as a voltage supply like I did. Its definitely a good idea to use that, since its already a "switched" source. Trunk open = lights on, trunk closed = lights off.

I'm running six CCL tubes from the trunk supply with no problems at all. You have to remember that the CCL inverter has a very low voltage draw.

You don't need an inline fuse for this, its not a high output application. You can add one if you want to feel "safer."

u guys kick @ss. thanx for the info. im going to look into the CCL thing also. i too was wondering about the vibrations. i got a fairly powerful system and id ha8 to see the vibrations dammage my tube.

ok this Q is for packet attack. i think id like to go with the CCL that i see on the website link you posted, but im not sure what to buy.

on that page i see the links for interior lights and there is one kit that says single interior and one that says dual interior which is brighter tan the single. my question is do you know how much brighter the dual kit is. i want my kit to be bright but not so bright that the interior has absolutely no darkness left. id like a lil darkness so it looks more like a glow. there are also 6 inch or 12 inch lengths, what would be the best length. something like a 12 inch single, or maybe 6 inch dual or maybe a 12 inch dual. let me know dude. this looks much better than neon tubes since the tubes are so big. this slim light wil look alot cleaner and using less power is a plus since i already have ps2, lcd, sound system....lol

I am running 1100 watts into my trunk. 2 - 12" Diamond subs (550w each). I have tubes beneath and on the box. I've thumped the system very hard with no damage at all.

i have my neons under my dash wired to one switch and the ones under my seats to another... but they all come direct from the battery with an inline fuse never had any problems... i also have leds in my door pockets from that line... its all low voltage draw

i did this i have them under my setas and dash. I made a switch comming off of the cig light and hook them all up to a 1 to 4 cig lighter socket adptor. No wires can bee seen, and i have a preety blue led swicth sitting next to my dimmer for all of them and my vent led's.

 

manual max, next to the light dimmer switch i have the little blank spot where i can put a witch in, what kind of switch can i put in that would fit nicely in the spot. and does that lil plastic piece just pop off. what kinda of lighting are you using, neon tubes, led's, or the CCL.

anyone else know what size i should get: the singe 6inch or 12 inch. or the dual 6 inch or 12 inch. i want to make sure i dont get something too dim, or too bright. heres the link.

damn those tubes are so much cheaper than neons over the past couple weeks ive been changing all the lighting in my car to blue (the red bulbs behind the gauges kept fading out) well anyway i think i paid like 25 bucks a piece for two 15" blue neons from a local car audio shop

 

i have 15 inch neons under the dash and 10 inch for the back. I just have a round blue led rocker switch i got from autozone. it looks very stock.

 

i have the leds in the heat vents on a 4-switch panel, and i have both 12 inch neon tubes under my dash wired to that same switch panel, on a separate switch, i have 9 inch neon tubes in my door pockets..... my switch panel is a flat sticker with 4 "buttons" hidden on my side of the center console....its pretty neat, of course no wires or tubes showing n e where in my car...and that swtich panel is powered by the cig lighter, so on the other two switches on the switch panel i have to use em for something light like leds or something...

when coming straight from the battery how do u know which type of inline fuse to use? 10 amp, 5 amp, 15 amp, does that matter? i might ghetto rig it and use a regular fuse and wrap one wire around one leg and the other wire around the other leg and elec tape it up, as my inline fuse...im gonna have to start coming from the battery, i use a lot of my fuses, just because its the only way ive learned to do it...

 

well i ordered the cold cathode tubes, i only bought 4 for the cabin and ill do the trunk when i makeover my system setup. i should get it all by thurs or fri. is there anything else i should look to buy? Any other items for instalation. im gonna go get a switch and some wire to hook it all up.

on a side note, i now have a broken rear window on the driver side. i noticed today as i was rolling all the windows up the back one wasnt rolling up. the window was like loose or something, i would slide it up by hand and it would just fall back down. when i press the switch to roll it up i hear it clicking. i finally got it closed by playing with the switch and manually pushing the window up. it seems to be closed tightly now but i dont want to risk opening it again. when i get a chance im gonna take the panel off and look at the window. anyone have this problem before, any idea how to fix this, how much would it cost to fix if i can do it myself.

 

no clue, and i recommend everyone to HIDE YOUR NEON/CATHODE TUBES.....it looks very tacky when a tube is showing....if u want to hook it up in ure trunk, figure out a way to hide the neons....u can put them on the top of the trunk, with the lid open....u can still hide them in the top part of the trunk that doesnt include the trunk lid...
