Question about Amps and wattage

Can anyone out there explain to me how 2 subs split watts on a mono sub amp, for instance if i wire a pair of 4 ohm subs rated at 250w RMS each, to a mono sub amp rated 250w RMS @ 2 ohms is each sub getting 250w???? Or is each sub splitting and getting 125w each????? was curious how this works???

each sub is getting 125. on any amp (i.e. jbl 600.1) thats a mono amp, it bridges the channels internally. on my jbl 600.1 it had a left and right sub input which it then bridges internally to make 1 channel.

well there are variables to take into account when choosing the right power for subs. but lets say you have 2 250 watt rms subs... get a 500 watt rms amp.
