I was helping my friend install a subwoofer today and we ran into some problems. We seemed to have installed everything correctly. We are trying to install aftermarket speakers(to replace front speakers), amp and subwoofer to an existing Bose system. He had bought an adaptor that he was told that he needed to convert the speaker wire from the head unit to RCA jacks for input to the amp. We can get the speakers and sub to work when we set the amp to "hi" but when we turn it to "low" (which it should be set to for the sub), there is nothing coming out of the sub. I was trying to help him troubleshoot the set up and we seem to have isolated the problem to the adaptor.. The reason why I think this is so is because we tested the amp with just the speakers and it works fine. We tested the sub on another car/another amp and it works. We tested the sub in his car with my mp3 player as the input and it works (on "low") thus making me think that it is the adaptor. It is the only thing we can not test. Did we do something wrong/miss something?
Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks.

the thing with the stock bose head unit is that it wont run another amp well.. sometimes it cuts out, sometimes it wont recognize the control wire.. your best bet is to bite the bullet and get another head unit.. its well worth it, i had subs with my bose, no other speakers, and now i have all redone its amazing!!! check my webpage for pics..
