Well, i've definitely shot my stock battery. it can no long sustain the load of my system. im thinking about getting a new gell battery like optima yellow top and a new alternator that puts out something like 250amps. Does anyone know where i can find alternators at a good price, without being ripped off? please let me know thanks aalok

Well 250Amp will be hard to get. For Maxima's usually I see HO alternators rated at about 180Amp to 200Amp and not much higher. The reason is that usually one has to go with a small case alternator and you can only get so much out of a small case.

For my 89 Maxima I was quoted $318 US for a 180A unit from www.egrproducts.com

You can also try www.bestamericaind.com and see if they will sell to you by wholesale direct. We usually sell Ohio Generator alternators for around $500-800 depending on the case size, bracketing and output. A comparable HO Alternator from stinger will easily set you back $800-1000...
