A stereo question...

I have my 2K1 Maxi, with the 120Watt basic stereo HU. It has the 6 speakers, but no sub. I want to keep the original stereo. But my question is, what would the best option be to make the stereo louder, and add some bass to the music? I don't need anything that will rattle my neighbors windows or anything, just decent sound in the cabin. I was thinking to buy one great big amp that has speaker level inputs that will be able to power all six speakers, plus a sub. That leaves me with trying to filter the right freq to the right speakers. I would most likely replace the 6 speakers in the process. But would this even work? Would I need some sort of X-over unit to do the filtering? Or, will I be forced to be a new HU, with seperate amps? I really want to keep the stock unit, mainly because then no one will want to steal it, and I will still have my handy-dandy steering wheel controls. Any advice, or suggestions would be most appreciated.

Thanks

Aftermarket speakers come with their own passive crossovers for the mid/tweeter. Pretty much all amps these days have built-in electronic crossovers, so that won't be an issue. Just make sure that you get an amp with fully adjustable xovers, for better system tuning.

Agreed. I find that a/d/s amps have the best built in crossovers available. Orion amps with the IntelliQ crossover are also very good, since a/d/s designed it for them
