Anyone with a carputer?

well im getting my carputer all figured out and put together and i was just wondering if anyone else has one installed in their max. I have a micro-atx mobo with a pIII 1.0ghz, 256 mb ram, and hopefully a 60 gig hard drive, and wifi. gps will have to wait for now. i will be selling my farenheit 7" screen and buying a 7" lilput touchscreen. Does anyone have a lilput or xenarc installed in their 4th gen? i'm hoping that it will fit as perfectly as my farenheit but i think that with the buttons on the bottom of the screen i will have to mod my center console. Also where are you guys mounting the motherboard and stuff? i think im gonna have to put mine in the trunk.

You can see my carputer worklog there, but a bit has changed since then. It now has a P3-667, 128mb RDRAM, 10 gig drive, All-In-Wonder 128 Pro ( tv in the car! ), GPS with MS Streets and Trips, and controlled with an ATI Remote Wonder. And the trunk looks a lot better. It's not a 4th gen, but maybe it will give you ideas.

I'm working on one right now. I'm using mine primarily for engine control stuff like e-manage, OBDII, and WBO2 monitoring. I think I've decided to put in an aftermarket radio in instead of using the PC for FM and CD etc. That way I can listen to radio at least without the PC in the car. My design is using a laptop, which has the advantage of having a "tank circuit" design. No matter what the voltage of the car is doing my laptop will stay sable. Plus I can take it out when I want. The disadvantage is powering it up is more difficult. I had a laptop sitting around so I chose that, but really the best set-up is what you have.

I've been considering the Xenarc, since it seems a little better quality than the Lilliput. Like you, not sure how the mounting is going to work out.

i had one a 1 and a half ago in my sentra. was a great idea, but not practical for me. I also didn't like the sound quality it was giving me. I have a higher end sound system and mp3's just dont do it justice. though it was nice having thousands of them in the car with me. i did have a xenarc 7" screen, but it wasnt touch. i mounted a touchpad on the center console to control it. i also had a mini keyboard attached to the drivers side visor so you could flip it down and type if need be.
