think i killed my amp
I have a kicker 600.1 amp and 2 12" kicker comp vr's
Both subs are dual voice coiled and are connected inside the sub box.
the single output on my amp goes to both subs.
I am like 99% positive it is ok to wire it the way it is because the person i got it from had everything done professionally and i didn't change anything except for the car.
now i just got into my car and noticed 15 secs down the road..i had no bass. I got out to see if maybe somehow my speakers froze considering how cold and icey it has been in the past few days to just find that my amp was completly off all together. When i dropped down my back seat to check the fuses all i could smell was the burned electronics smell. I'm not sure if maybe if could of been the smell of a fuse in the samp that burned because i have not been able to check that yet due to how cold it is and it was also 10:30 at night. Anyone that can help or recommend a detailed explaination of how i can wire up these subs to a single channel amplifier because i just happen to have another one laying around please help. Also anyone who knows what may have happened please help too!!!

deff the amp. I got home and took out the 2 30 amp fuses and they were blown. so i replaced them and as soon as i turned it on smoked started pouring out of it. never been soo pissed. had it set up for almost 2 years. i have a rockford 501s that i'm going to hook up to it instead...u think it will be as good?
more importantly..its not going to blow when i hook it up?

all of my fuses were ok. The problem is not comming from the power wire and i know this for a fact. My setup consisted of 2 amps, 1 for subs and 1 for highs, only the amp for my subs blew...twice..and this was not over time, the second amp blew as soon as i turned the key in the ignition and the other amp has been uneffected the entire time.

i'm honestly not sure what load i was running. all i know is that the subs were wired in parallel and running to a mono amp and that was how it was installed and given to me and thats how i put it in...never changed ****.

I've had this system setup for about 2 years or so and haven't changed a thing except swapping it in and out of my last car and into this car. That was about 3 months ago now.
