The other day I had to disconnect the neg battery cable of a few minutes. When I attach the cable there was a large arch, enough to leave a mark on the negative battery terminal. The first thing I thought to myself was "What did I leave on" nothing. If anyone ever installed a battery and forgot to turn off the headlights or left the ignition on you know what arch I'm talking about, but it was bigger. Then I remember the CAP, this was the first time I disconnected the battery cables since the Cap was installed.

1) Is this normal for CAP users
2) Could damage be done to either vehicle electrical system
or CAP if it happens again
3) Are there any precautions I can do to prevent this

One more thing, that same day I had to keep the battery cable off overnight. The next day when I installed the cable there was no arch, guess the CAP was discgharged
