What kind of multimeter/voltmeter should I get? I want one to have around the house for different projects.

Obviously I'm thinking I'll be using it for my car projects, but it would be nice if it was applicable for home use as well.. etc

any tips on what to look for?

thanks in advance

Try to buy a Fluke multi meter, these are used by the military and are extremely accurate and durable. I use the Fluke 77BN. Around $189. There are some cheaper models in the 50-100 dollar range, but the BN series are military spec.

Yep, Fluke is the way to go. If you really want to have some fun, get one with oscilloscope functionality
