I helped with my isntall, but didn't deal with the HU isntallation. I'll try to help though. You'll need a dash kit, wiring harness, and antenna adapter. Basically it's just fitting it in the dash kit, wiring it all up, then putting your dash back together. I'll let someone else go into more detail.

To get to the radio, start by removing the shifter trim. Disconnect lighter plug and remove ashtray. Then remove the upper A/C vents on top of center console. Remove all harness plugs behind it. Remove 4 bolts from factory bracket holding the radio and your done. As far as a double din radio, any one would work. Just make sure it mounts onto the factory bracket. Look at my homepage for pics. Eventhough I have a 5th gener, I had this same type of setup in my '95. I have two seperate units in my dash.

actually you dont need an install kit in a 4th gen i believe thats what this is for you just screw the h/u into the metal brackets where the stock one was screwed in

Assassinroon, it would help to know what year your car is before anyone goes into detail of the dash. My99maxisnice...he has an aftermarket radio already, so he will not need to buy a kit, harness, or antenna adapter. The only thing he will need to do is wire up the existing harness in the car and put the radio back in. Pavelsmax, if he had a factory single din radio, then yes you are correct, he would not need a dash kit, but if he has Bose, he will need to buy a pocket to go below the radio since Bose head units are double din. Either way, he already has an aftermarket radio so I would assume he has that taken care of.

That being said, if you have a 5th gen with a Metra kit, the old radio will slide out of its cage and it will be very easy. Otherwise, on any other 5th gen kit or 4th gen kit, you will have to take the dash apart. In both, the shifter console comes out. Then:
4th gen-there are screws to take out the ashtray, and the ashtray will be hard to get out since it also has clips on it. Then, pry out the vents and a/c controls which are one piece. There will be 2 screws on top and 2 screws on the bottom of the remaining part of the dash, and then the radio area will all come out.
5th gen-pretty much the same, minus the ashtray part. once you take the shift console, and the vents out, you will see the 4 screws (2 top 2 below) that hold the brackets and dash in.

Good luck
Kevin

That's a good write up. But it doesn't do those of use with a Bose system any good. Are there any write ups for the Bose system 4th gen?? On that document is says to use PDF 6472022, but that file doesn't exist.

What are you trying to do...bypass Bose? If so, the Bose amps are at each speaker. The input to each amp is a power, a ground, and a (+) and (-) speaker wire which comes directly from the radio. Just tap into that speaker wire before the amp, hook it up to the speaker, and youll be good to go. Installing the deck will be exactly the same, whether you have Bose or not.
