Bandpass boxes are difficult to tune correctly and almost always end up with muddy sounding bass, go with the ported for type R's, the response curve tends to be best with that type of enclosure. Furthermore, the Type E's are okay, but the R's are worth the extra $$, you won't regret it. In better subs like these, lag and sound cleanliness isn't really an issue with the driver itself, but more so with the amp, if you've got a decent sub, don't cheap out, get a decent amp, and do your homework, a lot of big name amp manufacturers overrate or twist the specs on thier products, testing in perfect conditions (which the amp will never see in normal use) to get better numbers. I recommend Infinity, MTX, and (if you really wanna shell out some money) Memphis amps, I absolutely abhor, and warn everyone against Audiobahn

I got my Alpine MRD-M501 shipped to my door for $299 dollars . I think that this is a reasonable price.

Jbls are Champs

i have a jbl 600.1 and i have it wired in parrallel down to 1 ohm and the thing never gets hot. At 1 ohm its pushing out about 600rms. You can also get a 1200.1 which should also perform like a champ. I just looked on sounddomain, etronics and ikesound and it doesnt look like they have the 1200.1 or the 600.1 so it looks like the series might have been discountinued. If your interested in one i would try ebay.

yes sir. they made the gto series amps which are the newer models. the 600.1 is a reliable amp...i just sold mine but i loved it when i had it. my roomate has his 600.1, it pushed his type r 12's nicely. only reason he is selling it is because hes getting a new car and needs $.
