Kicker amps
Kicker amps
I have a kicker IX406 amp. I know it is at least on ok amp.
I was thinking about kind of (manually) externally bridging each pair of channels and running 3 subwoofers. Is this practical or even possible?
It has 6 channels:
2 for subs
2 for front
2 for rear

this amp is only 40 watts rms x 6 channels, its not enough for 3 subs...
it'll probably run a small system, like 4 6 1/2's and 2 8's... a good door spk amp... you might need a better amp for 3 subs.....

I'm not trying to start any kind of argument here but when I had this amp and my 2 12" kicker subs in my mazda 323 all i had was one channel hooked up to each one and it pounded. Is this because the amp might distribute the power to only the channels that are being used or what?
yea, prob has the sub channel as a "bridgeable" channel... are the subs you have DVC, if so you can try this set up with them... even then if you go to a 2 ohm stable its 55 x 6. making it 330 watts. it true I have ran 2 15"s with only 300 watts and pounded. if these are 8 ohm subs you will get them to run at bout 2 ohms so you can get the 330 watts, try it out...
