My old system vs. 5.5gen bose - Audio junkies step inside

Obviously I have the bose system in my 5.5 gen, and i have equipment from my old car and i was thinking about putting it in my new car when i thought to myself... how much of an improvement is this?

here is the old system
Kenwood Excelon HU - 3 outputs
Boston Acoustics Component Speakers
12" Alluminum Eclipse sub
JL Audio 2 channel 350w (speakers)
JL Audio 1 channel 500w (sub)
monster cables

after cranking up the bose, i was trying to remember what my old system sounded like... i know it was cleaner, a little bit louder, and a bit more bass, but if i'm going to upgrade the time is now

here are my conflicts:
if i add another 12" sub, then my 500 watt amp will simply be pushing more air but not as hard, not enough juice IMO for these alluminum bad boys

if i do add more bass, will my 1 set of components be enough to talk over them, even if i wire the rear speakers to the HU?

i could also sell the 12" and get 2 JL audio 12" subs, to sacrifice some cleanliness for more air, but that is kind of a pain

if i want to add more speakerage i need to buy another 2 channel amp, and im not sure if i want 3 amps

how many watts is the bose? i guess its ?? vs. 850

ideas?

i think it will be a substantial upgrade. if you have the time and know-how DIY it.

my friend has an 01 gle with the bose...the interior speakers are decently loud but had no highs, the bass response was poor at best. when he put the 500/1 and 2 12" w3v2's in there the bass was much better. do the upgrade and tell us. I'm sure you will like it.

i think my new idea is to leave everything as is, except add an alluminum 12 and get a new box to hold 2 12s instead of 1

500 watts wont be enough to push them to their fullest potential, but it should at least push more air, what do you think

the eclipses demands a bit more than those w3s if im not mistaken
