Need amp and subs advice
I have a 2002 Max and currently and a Kenwood CD player and Boston Acoustics Components in the front and Bostons 6.5 on the rear doors.
I want to add Amps and subs, but can't figure out what to buy. I went to the local Tweeter and Best Buy, but can't make up my mind on wether to get a whole JL set up (amps and speakers) or go to Best Buy and get an Alpine setup. I'm also open to any other set ups you guys have in mind. BTW JL is very expensive, so anything that sounds as good, please let me know.

What to Do?
First off you need to know how much you are willing to spend. Once you figure that out you can start thinking about what brand of equipment to buy. I started my system out with no money and worked my way up to kicker amps and subs with diamond audio components. Alpine is old school and durable (not needing and service). I would tell you to go alpine if you do not have a lot of money, but if you have a lot of money I would look at other brands for your subs and low pass amps.... there are many choices.
Look at the watts, but wattage does not mean a good sub always. Check the frequency and what levels the subs work best at.
If you are looking for hard hitting subs that are somewhat cheap I would say Kicker, but they have given me trouble in the past with sending them out. All in all I cant complain about them though. They slam and pick up a lot of bass notes.
Finally I would say do not buy from best buy or any franchised store like bestbuy because many of the people working in there do not know squat about car audio and the warranty is a pain in the ***. Look for a local car audio store and get to know the people and **** should work out for you with deals and such. Happened to me here in Mass. (Curry Audio)

Do you have your mind set on JL and/or Alipine for any specific reason. My best advice is to call Don(pearlmax96) and discuss your options with him. One of the most knowledgable guys here. No offense to anyone else. I wish I would have made that call before I bought all my gear b/c I am replacing it all now.

I don't mind spending the money for good equipment, but if I can get good equipment for a lesser price I'm all for it. JL amps are very expensive, but from what I hear, JL amps are the only amps that make their subs sound the best. What other brands do you recomend?
