Ohh that's a hard one. Hmmm. I've dealth with Punch z's in both enclosures... and the fact that you listen to both rock and rap... makes it even harder.

I'd say the sealed. The p8002 amp is an AB if my memory recalls right. That with the vented box would pound your head off for Rap music, but you would loose a lot of SQ on the rock.

Plus, the fact the sealed is built to spec (for the subs I assume) Makes it a more natural choice.

If u have both enclosures definatly listen with the sub n both. I've known a lot of people that owned RF subs, and about 90% of the were n ported enclosures. Personally I have always owned a ported enclosure, sealed ones don't usually go deep enough for me.

sealed enclosures can go pretty low if it's big enough. but yeah, i prefer ported over a sealed as well.

So what's the basic ported vs. sealed argument? What are perks for one over the other?

properly designed sealed boxes go lower than ported boxes for ultra low extension. but this is usually only valuable for test tones or some movies (believe it or not blue crush goes to 10hz). IMO if your primary source of music is NOT rap do not go ported. its much easier to get rock, etc to sound good sealed.

Alright, I was thinkin sealed anyway, since it's smaller and that's what Don recommended. But since I listen to NO rap and pretty much all rock, I guess sealed is now definitely the way to go.

for most subs (i say most because some subs still sound accurate in a ported application ), sealed will sound more accurate than ported boxes...perfect for quick bass beats found in rock, techno etc.

I agree totally if u don't listen to much rap definatly go sealed. A lot of people say sealed enclosures make cleaner bass. But after reading ur post about the vented sounds better I have to give my advice again, RF subs sound a lot better n vented enclosures. Especially since u have a higher $ sub.

My punch z's sounded better in the sealed boxes than my vented box. I only have the vented box in because I'm enjoying the air pressure.
