Any problem with wiring sub into a four channel amp as a fix speaker?

I just bought a subwoofer from a friend, Polk Audio, for $20. My next plan is to buy a Profile 1040 4 channel amp to power my four Infinity Kappa's and also the Polk sub. I plan on just wiring the sub into the fourth channel along with one of my component speakers. Will this cause any problems to the speakers or amp?

No. Your amp is 2 ohm stable so wire it like this: Wire all four infinitys off of 2 channels. You'll lose your ability to fade the music but wire the front right with the rear right and same with the left side and you'll still keep your ability to balance the speakers. You're now running 4 speakers off of 2 channels at 2 ohms. The specs of your amp say that you'll be running 125 watts to each of all four speakers. Then bridge the remaining 2 channels to make one channel of 255 watts to you subwoofer. You'll run 5 speakers with about 755 watts off of one amp, without putting the amp in danger, however it will probably run hotter, and suck more juice so use big power wire like 4 gauge or so. BTW why the urge to go with Profile?

The reason I'm going with Profile, is basically price. I could not find any other amp that has the same or better specifications for a 4 channel amp, in the price range. Yea, I know that I should go with a better quality amp for my Infinity Kappas and this sub, but right now I have no money, and my stock head unit is doing a shi**y job powering the 4 speakers as it is.

Maybe in the future I'm gonna be able to push it nicely with a better brand amp, who knows.

Edit - the thing is, I just checked out my speaker (Infinity) specs, and they run at 4 ohms. Will I blow the speakers out running them at 2 ohms from the amp?

Thw speakers will run at 2 or 4 ohms it doesn't matter. They will not be harmed. Wiring 4 kappas onto 2 channels will make the amp run at 2 ohms not the speakers. Your speakers are still rated at 4 ohms but they will be drawing 2 ohms of current from your amp (kinda confusing to try and explain this over the internet). How much are you gonna pay for the profile? I would suggest looking on eBay for Phoenix gold 4 channel amp, or alpine, or something along those lines. Profile's amp tend to be overrated powerwise. A decent 4 channel phoenix gold octane amp only go for about a little over $100 on eBay. Just a thought.

well, they wont be drawing 2 ohms of CURRENT...the ohm is a unit of resistance. the lower the number, the less resistence there is..which is why if you keep going lower and lower it makes your amp unstable..its sucking more power out of the amp than it is capable of putting out due to reduced resistance.

The best way to wire your system would be to run the front speakers from the first channel pair of the amp. Power the rear speakers with the head unit. Power the sub with the second channel pair of the amp bridged mono. This will provide the most clean power you can get from that amp, fading ability, and stable operation for all the speakers. The rear speakers don't need to be loud anyway, so HU power is enough.
