How to install front door speakers for 01 Maxima?

Can someone please tell me how to install front door speakers?

I have a 2001 Maxima GXE and it is time to put some new speakers in.

Checked the front doors but the factory speaker grilles seem to be part of the door panel. Do I have to remove the door panels? How if so?

Thanks!

Thanks.

I've got some responses in the 5th Gen forum. Sounds like it is a pain cuz the door panel has to be removed.

im preparing too begin my install on my 00 max, and the speaker install itself seems easy, i even did practice runs at removing the panels, they come off fairly easy....my concern is, wiring through the door jams? anyone have any suggestions? i knwo the factory wire harness that goes through is already pretty well loomed and taped up...shouldi j ust run the speaker wire and perhaps electrical tape it realy good too the factory wire sets going across?

Thats what I did for my front doors. If you look at the top above the factory wiring harness, there is a sticker on the door which you can remove and there is a gromet on the car which comes out. OSH has a gromet which fits perfectly in the car's body (too difficult to take a picture of this) and it has an opening enough which perfectly lets in the 1/4" plastic wiring protector I had put around my 16ga speaker wire. The opening on the door is small, so if you use the wiring protector like I did, you will have to reduce the diameter as it approaches the door so you can shove it in and hope that it sticks.

For the rears, its easy enough to run a wire through the factory harness.

the door panel comes off easy!

1) pop out the plasitc piece fromt he holder in the middle and remove the screw.
2) pop off the plastic piece on the top of the door a couple inches over fromt he handle and remove screw behind that.
3) pry the trim away from around the door handle.
4) now just pull the bottom and the clips will come away fromt he door and lift it to get it over the window.

dont forget to disconnect any wire harnesses for the door electrical. and why do u need to run speaker through the door frame? can't u just connect the new speaker from the wires of the old one? i guess unless u have bose. may have just answered my own question.
