2K GXE mounting question

I'm picking up a 2000 GXE next weekend and have a question about the radio installation.

The stock radio was a single DIN cassette player with an add on single DIN cd player. About every one I've seen has a double DIN cassette/cd combo unit in them. When they are a double DIN it appeard that the upper vents are one piece and the radio is another. This cars vents and trim around where the stereo goes all seems to be a single piece. I will likely put in a stock cd/cassette double DIN HU and think I will be forced to buy new upper vents. Is this true? Are cars with a factory double DIN 2 pieces? The vents and the HU are seperate? Does any of this make sense? LOL

This is basically what the piece on my (soon to be) car looks like http://www.courtesyparts.com/Merchan...de=68750-VENTC

Am I correct that if I go to a double DIN stock HU I'll have to get new center vents?

The GXE trim is one piece with the vents attached.

Thanks Brettb. So if I went with a stock double DIN unit I would need new upper vents right? Do you know if all 5th gen's use the same vents. I've seen quite few from 2k2 and 2k3's for sale.

dont get the stock radio...use your vents with the entire surround, keep the pocket, and get an aftermarket head unit.
