4 channel amp
4 channel amp
ok heres my current set-up:
i have infinity kappa 6 1/2'' component in my front doors, and infinity kappa perfect components (6 1/2'' also) in my rear deck. 8 speakers total. they are being pushed my a jbl amp, gto 75.4 or something like that.
my problem right now is if i turn the volume up, my amp will go into protect mode and shut off briefly. i mean the car is pretty loud, but for all these component speakers and 4 tweeters in my car, i think it should be louder. also the speakers arent getting a good bass response.
my question is should i change my amp? or maybe these infinity speakers jus dont handle bass that well? the fronts are 270watts (90rms) and the rears are 400watts (100rms), so they can handle some power. any suggestions on a good 4 channel amp? or does anyone know why my amp would be shutting off?

Get a multimeter (or find someone who has one) and test at the amp, make sure the amp has good voltage, a good ground, and that each speaker reads ~4 ohms. If your sure everything is fine, and you want to go ahead and get a new amp, give us a budget for what you want to spend. Are you running a sub/on what amp? What head unit? Infinity is known for their loud tweeters, so if I were you I wouldnt expect a lot of bass from them, but you can always mess with the amp's crossover and see if you can get more out of them.
