so i have an alpine head unit and now i want to change the speakers but ive heard about a bypass...what do i have to do to change the speakers?

 

There are 4 Bose amps, one at each speaker. There are 4 wires going to each Bose amp, a power, a ground, a (+) speaker and a (-) speaker. Tap into the speaker wires before the Bose amp, and extend them 6 inches or so to your aftermarket speaker. So you will bypass the Bose and run your speakers right off the head unit.

I personally would replace the speaker wire with some that is a little bit thicker, the stock wiring is not too good in my opinion. Id say just run new wires from your headunit to the speakers. Just my .02

 

Any reccomendations on speakers? i also have an alpine hu and am thinking of the same thing.

What sizes/ types?

 

Theyre all 6.5". Running new speaker wire when using the deck's internal amp to power the speakers is a complete waste and only a headache. Running new speaker wire with an aftermarket amp...personal preference.

 

Anyone have any tips on how to run new wire to the doors?

what about using an "amp integration harness." That's what I did, and it worked fine for me. Just a simple harness with RCA's so that you can send a pre-amp signal from the HU to the bose amps.
