Decent amp for Extremely low Budget?

Hey guyz, I'm on an extremely low budget and I have a Kicker 12L5 just waitin to bump. After lookin around and doing a lot of research I found this Boss brand Class D amp on Ebay.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...ayphotohosting

would any of u use this for the time being till I get the money to upgrade? or do you think its not even worth it and just save up for a more reliable name that probably would cost at least twice the amount?

for a lowww budget, ok quality you may want to look at Power Accoustik or Profile

But if you cannot afford what you truly want, i say patience is a virtue and waiting until capable is key. Buying so-so stuff now is an expense on top of what you are going to get to replace it in the future, and you never can sell budget stuff to get any decent return.

save your money. Like MannyNJ2k2max said, otherwise you'll be forking over money in the future just to upgrade. Better to overkill straight off, then upgrade the rest of your system on. Especially on subs, (conisdering they're cheaper to get than amps... in most cases)

Here's a decent amp that will run your whole system.

JBL 600.1 would work. In a pinch. I am a big time advocate of saving and buying quality equipment though, as the others have stated.

No pics=No buy. An Ebay posting is sketchy to begin with, then the seller doesn't even put up pics. I have to disagree with you on this one. If you do buy from Ebay, make sure there is a full description as well as pics. I DO NOT under any circumstances buy from a vendor who has less then 99% positive feedback. That is just how I protect myself from the fly by night companies that sell the few items they have in their basement and jet. Sorry for the rant, just trying to be helpfull.

Wow, thanx guyz you were all a big help maybe I will just save up... I just thought that it was cheaper because it was kind've a no name brand. It caught my eye because it was a Class D amp (Reliable) and it did 800W RMS at 2ohm. Thanx

Oh and don't listen to most people talk about "quality" equipment. Their idea of quality is to spend a million dollars. You can get GREAT equipment for cheap ... you just have to be willing to forgo a warranty which I always am. I'm a deal man and if it's not a deal, I don't buy it.

I recently got a 2 wa PG X-over on eBay for $25, a pair of Orion 8" midbasses for $15 and got my old Infinity Kappa 10's for $50 shipped. Those Kappas not only sounded great, but they lasted ... and the new owner of that car is still enjoying them.

Take chances in life ... that's what life is all about.

Quality isnt always about Sound Quality. Its more focused towards build quality, reputation, customer support, warranty, ease of use,functionality,etc...

I would prefer to take my chances in AC or Vegas, at least there is a chance of a return on your money, rather than a headache and downtime for your system.

It probably is but I need somethin that is gonna put at least 600W RMS into the sub... Most would rather over power than under power

Now this is tough... Do I take a chance with Boss after all this? or should I wait it out?.... hmmmm this is a lil harder than I thought... being that I am just so anxious to get this kicker kickin... Maybe I'll just start wiring everything first, then I'll see how much I have to spend after I find the time to do that.

If you sub is Dual 2 ohm this amp is perfect for you. It will do more than 600 watts. That is a solid 600 watts to, not overrated like the BOSS or the other crap amps. Do yourself a favor and dont buy the BOSS, you wont get nearly 800 watts outta it. If the DEI doesnt fit your bill, get the JBL.

well thats the thing... cause its a dual 4 ohm... it can do 2 or 8ohm load. So if I wire it with the Directed audio amp I will only get 400W. But u have a point, so because of that alone I probably won't get the BOSS

I still say call Don. He is an installer, unlike the rest of us weekenders. Stay away from Boss. Wait and get a better(quality) amp. Remember, Cheap rarely = quality. In everything you do, including car audio, you always get what you pay for. Buy cheap, get cheap.......
