Putting in single-din head units in double din dash?

hey guys, i was just wondering, whats the kit out there that allows single din decks into our double din cars? i have a 99' I30 and im planning on getting either an alpine or eclipse unit.

thx in advance for the input.

The Metra 99-7417 Nissan Multi kit will work, or a basic pocket, which from Metra is the Metra 88009000, and which might need new holes to be drilled in the factory brackets to get it to work. Any local shop that sells stereos should have these.

yes, but there is a gap problem with the metra's, about an 1/8" to 3/16 ths in gap, i melted a piece of cut-away from the back to fix

I bought the 99-7417 and will not be using it because of the poor fitment.

goto your local best buy/circuit city and check it out there. If you dont like the fitment, simply return it

I always just use the pocket, and drill new holes so it sits flush against the deck, because, yes, there is a gap.

Tim, you trie a 7417 on your 5th gen??? Why not just use the 7416 which is made for it?

Geniuses at Circuit City sold me the wrong one I guess. There are install instruction for an '02 Maxima (if you want to call them that), but I think I'm going to be happier the way I'm installing anyways.

I definately agree, although I can see how the 17 would look a bit funny in a 5th gen
