Mounting Depth

When shopping for speakers, you should be aware of the Maxima's maximum mounting depth for drivers mounted in the front doors.

6th Generation (2004-2005)

5th Generation (2000-2003)

2.975" - 4th Generation (1995-1999)

3rd Generation (1989-1994)

2nd Generation (1985-1988)

1st Generation (1981-1984)

Is this for plain stock mounting or with building out baffles? I only know my 4th generation, but for that model you can, if trimmed properly, build out 1.5" of baffle and still get the door panel back on.

first pic or two....

With that build out....I'd think you could get a deeper driver than that too.....
Definately screaming 8's in doors to me...Maybe next year.

Also, not that I'm saying go do this, but the track that holds the windows (the one's that are towards the front of the car that would get in the way of mounting deeper speakers) can be bent back a little without affecting the window rolling up or down.

One thing I'm loving about the gen 4 Max is it's ease of getting speaks in the doors.
