HELP with my python alarm

Ok, I have a Python 881XD alarm and I need this installed so I called up Circuit City and they tell me that they might need to take apart my door and drill into my door to turn off the factory alarm. Those who have alarms, when they/whoever installed it, did you have to drill into the door or take apart the door? PLEASE HELP!!!!

Thanks

I think the modules for the factory theft deterrent system are under the hood. Refer to the Owners Manual. Funny, Circuit City Installe dmy Python 881xp w/o doing anything to the factory alarm.

Yup, factory disarm wire and the lock/unlock wires you have to go into the door. not every circuit city will charge you for that tho

Lock and unlock wires are in the door. Absolutel;y no drilling is needed. Factory alarm disarm wire is not at all needed. Nothing on the factory "alarm" is changed.

It depends. The installers are trained, and they know their stuff. Some installers have different ways of doing things. While the drilling may not be "necessary" that particular installer coulds have his own way.

And you would allow someone to drill a hole in your car when its not needed? Look at it in the customers point of view.

I realize, but it is not a hole that would affect anything, and in teh end, CircuitCity guaruntees it's installation, and is insured. So if we messed something up, then BAM, you get a replacement.

I can tell you for a fact that not all Circuit City installers are trained or know their stuff. There are VERY few people, especially who work for Circuit City, who I would let touch my car. Yes the installation is guaranteed, but Im with Don on this one. When you go to sell the car, and Circuit City removes the alarm, do they put the metal back to return the car to 100% stock?

I work there, I can tell you for a fact that every installer at my store is trained and certified. And that small hole they would drill, would not even be visible. When they do an instalation they are told do do a double check procedure where they have another installer look at what they are doing before they drill, one of them is going to realize it is a bad idea.

Hmmm so theyll replace the metal and all the potential rust that could come about from a hole that would be exposed to outside elements?

Im wondering why the guys that work at CC and BB around here come to me for installs...

Guess what. I work there too. Been with CC Roadshop for a year and a half now, both sales and install, at 2 different stores. Like I said, I can tell you for a fact that not all Circuit City installers are trained or know their stuff.

BB does because they don't know what they are talking about anyway. Everytime we open up a dash we can tell who did it because of the ammount of tape they used. Your circuit city guys must suck. I would trust any one of our installers with my car.

It's easier to pull the relays yourself to disarm the factory if that is what you want to do.

I can vouch for them not being trained, half of them will admit it. One of my customers is actually an exec for CC in PA, he told me the same.

So being that Ive worked at 2 different stores, one of which was a Platinum store, doing both sales and install, all the installers I knew suck? No.

BB solders alarms too. They crimp their decks instead of solder which is when you can tell they installed those, not by the amount of tape.

You must not know your installers very well, or not have enough bay experience, to tell which installers you can trust with your car. Because I guarantee, if you were an installer, you would see what they do day to day, and your trust with at least one or more would be gone. Ive been there and done it.

No need for that either. The factory alarm can be left alone untouched.

Bring your friends with you and have them point out who installed it. Ask them how long theyve installed for and etc.

No offense to any CC or BB employee. I have only used CC one time, to install an alarm on my 00 Civic Si. I knew the RoadShop manager as well. He didn't supervise the install at all. I think a monkey installed it. The hole in the firewall was drilled and left knarly and had metal shavings below where they drilled as well as put the siren and it's wires hanging with no loom or tape or any degree of though as to hiding or disquising the wires running to it. I was not impressed at all. That was my last visit, other than to see friends or buy accessories for me to install. Eeek Eeek said the installer as I paid for my alarm. Eek eek indeed.

Maybe I shouldn't be going to Circuit City to get anything installed

The only CC employee I trust is kprs10is. I have seen his work and can varify he is capable. CC is there to get your car and as many others out in a timely manner. Sometimes that means taking shortcuts. I am under no circumstances saying that other shops don't do this. They do. You have to find someone you trust to do a good job as well as honor the products warranty. They are few and far between. If you haven't done it yet and still want them to do the install, tell them about your concerns and if they are not addressed, you will have it done elswhere. I doubt they will turn you away for asking them not to drill a hole in a panel unless it is absolutely neccessary.

Custom shops take as many, if not more short cuts than we do at CC, since our installs are warrantied for the life of the car. This by no means indicates the level of skill in the installer, and Im not being defensive at all since I will vouch that a lot of employees don't know as much as they should, but IMO the only way to go is to someone you know and trust. The one shop I trust with my car has 4 employees and 1 bay. The owner is the salesman, and is the Florida version of Don. They have an amazing box builder, and two installers, and I know them all. Like I said, finding someone you know and trust is the only way to go.
