Opinions on Eclipse CD5435 V.S Alpine 9855

I've used the glide touch and I'm not impressed. Not user friendly at all. A far departure from Alpine's consistent ergonomics. If you got used to it, I think you'd love it, but it will take a while to get used to.

I have plaid with the glide touch on several ocassions and I would much rather have the buttons. I've actually hung out in the sound rooms for a while trying to get the hang of it. There was this guy that came by a couple of times asking if I was sure I did not need any help.
I think the CDA-7998 I had was a lot easier to use.

out of those two models....if you need to go active with your speakers and need the processing for it the Alpine may be what you want. But if a set of components w/ passive crossovers is the extent that you are willing to go, I'll take the better cd transport of the Eclipse along with stronger preouts.

Well, I don't know about the Alpine, but I just got my CD5435 hooked up along with my iPod playing through it, and it sounds incredible. Only about 30 seconds worth of listening to Ben Folds "Landed" and it's light years ahead of the OEM HU I was using for over 2 years. Definately money well spent.
Thanks Don
