aftermarket antenna issues

I just installed an antenna from metra, which is basically a swap from the stock one, which was dieing out.(there was no electrical issue).
so i put this new one in my car i bought from a fellow orger who said it works and what not on our cars. I cut the wires from the harness (coming from the headunit). I have a black wire with pink stripes on it, a pink wire, and a black wire. I assumed the black wire was the ground and grounded it (is this correct?).
i then connected the pink wire to the blue wire coming from my new antenna and i heard a click come from the antenna as if it was getting power (a relay clicking?). and connected the blackandpink wire to the antenna's red wire. i turned the key to a position that would make the headunit come on.....and nothing happened. the antenna did not go up. i tried switching the 2 wire connections and still nothing.
so.....whats the deal with this?
thank you.

It doesnt come with any wiring, or you couldnt ask who you bought it from, or metra doesnt have it online? Those are your best options, other than calling metra tech people to ask them if your wiring is correct, which is probably your quickest option.

it came with wires coming off of the antenna. It also came with waht appears to be extentions of those wires but i didnt need any extension so i didnt use them.
the guy i bought it from is unreachable. I emailed metra and i'll see what they say.
if it doesnt work my head will probably explode.
