No, it is... I read it in some mechanics instructional book. There was a mechanics vocab section right after the chapter about exhaust lines and condensation. =>

Jesus was this exhuasting. Ok, so the trunk is now fully lined with Damplifier, with two layers covering the wheel wells.
Here's a boring pic of the trunk all cleaned up and wiped down with some mineral spirits...
Fast-forward 8 hours...
...and here is a shot of the one side of the trunk...
...and a shot at the back of the trunk. I funlly covered the back side of the trunk underneath the trunk latch and all...and yes, you have to remove the entire assembly in order to get to it.

Here is a shot of the right side...
...and I crammed the crap out of the mat in order to apply it to the exposed quarter-panel backings...
...and lastly I hit he bar up top on the trunk. Great, now all I have to do is apply the damplifier and carpet padding, but that can wait...I'm beat!!!

Thanks for the support, everyone! I think I am going to stop deadening for a day...the almunium foil has left me with about 20 small cuts in my skin that need a day to heal!

looks very nice, and im sure its gonna stop all sound, it looks like every one is starting to copy u and gonna sound deadin the crap outta there car.

I never had a jack in mine but i was able to sound proof the space where it goes. I have noticed that my trunk tension bars rattle now. Like Dan I did put some deadener around the trunk latch area, spare wheel well is all sound proofed.

Did you weigh you're car before you did this? That would be awesome to see a before and after weight difference, not because it will slow you down, but to get a feel of how much weight in deadening you will add. Will it be 1 passenger worth? 2 passengers worth? The .org may never now... lol I know you all remember those tootsie pop commercials...... ok nevermind

The stupid-azz rain pevented me from doing jack !@#$ this weekend, so I managed to get a little bit done...this weekend I sludged the trunk. You are looking at about 0.8gallons worth of sludge...i was not able o hit every square inch of the trunk, but I hit all of the major spots big time.
We'll have to see how things go this week, hopefully Katrina does not decide to come in and 'rain-on-my-parade'! (no pun intended]

Good job man. I did my wheel wells about 2 months ago and the sound from outside was noticeably less. It took me 2 hours to realize you can't take out the wheel wells; I don't know what idiot at nissan decided you would have to take off the fenders first to remove the wheel wells.

I suggest any of you guys who is going to deaden your car be careful using any tar backed sound deadener. I used edead in my doors and when it was in the 90's and 100's here, that stuff melted and sticked to my windows inside the door and messed up my tint, it was a bi@ch cleaning it up. I would recommend using some of that high tempature aluminum tape shown above then apply it. When tar is hot, it will flow like syrup into every hole and leak between the metal panels inside your doors.

i was inspired by all this deadening shizzle, so i went to home depot, i went to the roofing section and had a browse of the stuff they had. I came across roofing patch stuff that came in paint-can sized batches. The one that jumped out at me was the one that turned into rubber when it was dry so i decided to give it a try on my trunk lid on the inside where the trunk latch is i let it dry for about 8 hours then put the lid back on. also it didnt feel like rubber when it was dry.
to my amazement there was little to no rattle at all..im not gonna say this stuff is better than all the other deadener stuff out there but it is a cheaper alternative to whats out there. i paid 14 bucks canadian.
i think ill try the rear deck next with 2 or 3 layers of this stuff

Ok, so now it's time to start deadening the doors...I am going to first start off with one of the rear doors. The first thing that I did was run my own speaker wire...what you see is my Silver Plater Knuknoceptz Kasa Kable (14AWG)...it's threaded through the door grommet and enscased in wire loom. I will have to seal it off with caulk later.
Next up we see the door switch latch rods covered in wire loom...you'll see why in a minute!
Now, the first thing that I did was add one layer to the door panel itself...
...then we add the first layer...
...and then we are all done with the second layer!
This deadening was EASY. It took me about 30 to 45 minutes per layer, with a total of 2 layers damplifier exactly per door. These things are now DAMN sealed!!! I will follow up with the other rear door and one front door.

i was wondering this my self...just out of curisoity...

Ok, so after an inverntory check, I found that I have WAY more Damplifier than I thought. Soooo...I can now put hella heavy layers on everything. I wish I would have known this earlier, I would have put a second layer on the trunk. :crap:
Anyway, here we see the passenger door with 1 layer on the door, THREE LAYERS on the frame:
And another passenger door with ONE layer on the door, THREE layers on the frame...
...and finally, the other passenger door with ONE layer on the door, THREE layer on the frame..

The most amusing thing occured when I was driving this evening...there is a little lip where the doorpanel normally goes over, and since it's off, when I am driving with the window down, the wind tunnels RIGHT between the window and the lip, and in between the door and the subrame...it's pretty hilarious, it sounds like a little windtunnel; the air goes right in and is just trapped!

Wait till you drive with the rear deck done in the sun. Hope you have sunglasses.
On another note, I am glad I could fuel such a worthwhile adveture.
Hope your butt feels better. From the bee sting. I figured with this crowd, that statement needed qualification.
