amps turnning off randomly... HELP!

i have my 4 channel amp and my cap mounted on the back of my rear seats and I have my 2 channel sub amp in the wheel well... when I have my rear seats up and locked the amps will sometimes randomly turn off, they turn back on as I open up the rear seats again. I dont think this is a ground issue and no fuses are blowing. I think this has to do with my REM lines but im not sure what. when I removed the bose HU and put in an aftermarket unit, I used the old rem line, but in the trunk area where the bose amp was I spliced two wires on to the rem line for each of my amps... all of the connections in my car relating to the audio are soldered and covered with tape except for the rem line connection to my sub amp... so maybe I need to make that connection better.

does anyone have any other ideas?

thats one of the few things that it can be.. if they are loosing power, is either the power from the batt, or what tell the amp to turn on/off, the REM wire...

if you install systems yourself like that, invest in a test light.. so when things like this happen you can follow the power untill it stops, then you know were the problem is.. its better than trying to check all of your connection..

It could be a loose wire or a wire being grounded out while moving the seat. Chekc the REM line, sounds like that to me.

well, is the amp physically off?? or is it on but won't have any sound. if the light is still there but just not hitting, then that means there is a neg n pos wire touching. could be the subs inside the box. i had that happen once, they were touching somehow. kidna wierd. but if its just turning on n off, oculd be the remote wire. could be old n some wires got coroated on the inside which you can't see, it has happened to me before. why don't you just run a remote wire directly from the battery n see if its turns off that way....

if he wires the remote wire directly to the battery...the amp would be on...not off.

but to rmh3093, i would go back and double check that all wire connections are indeed secured tightly. sounds like a loose wire somewhere that's making sporadic contact whenever you mess with the seats.

if he runs a remote wire from the batter n it turns off, that means its not hte remote wire, n its something else, hence, he should run it with a new wire. remote wire is one of the easiest things to run really quickly, thats why i suggested it before taking apart the sub box n trying to follow where there is a low source of power

its nothing related to inside the sub box because both my subs and my cabin speakers cut out and they resume at the same time, it has to be something related to the REM line which is connected to my CD player, which might not supply enough current to turn on both amps, i might need to wire up some sort of relay system

The remote wire does not need to provide very much current. Run a new wire and this time solder and splice it correctly. If that wire gets grounded at any point then it will shut the amps off. I bet there is something loose or messed up along the way in the wiring.
