Alternator just took a dump, where can i find a HO?
Pretty sure the combination of my 6001 and 4004 MTX amps (over 1000 watts) strained my alternator enough so that the damn thing is freakin' smoking now. Definately think I blew a few diodes. Anyhow, I swear I read somewhere on here of someone installing a 200amp alternator. Can anybody point me to that thread or who did it?
Next question:
... How do I prevent this from happening again? I have a 1.2f capacitor that I'll be installing soon.. I don't know whether to upgrade the alternator...get a yellow top, install a bigger cap...etc. Any advice car audio junkies?

Yes, Can-Am Motors in Tampa FL makes a 200 amp alt which IIRC runs $400+.

Upgrade your alternator, your battery up front, and the big 3, and youll be set.
