New Audio installed + Question

After 1.5 days of being sick and installing this new audio, I am finally done

Eclipse CD5435 - I still have not figured out all the features

Rear 6.5in SUBS. ID-700u - These sound awesome I love them

USC4065 AMP - This amp is awesome for the money. It only cost $140.

Now, what do I want the High and low pass filter set to for the front and rear?

I hear you about the diamond xovers, have you seen the new d9 comp xovers? They're the size of small amps. I'm not sure where you'd want to xover the 6.5" woofers, I'd try around 120Hz-140Hz, and adjust from there. US Acoustics has always put out a pretty economical amplifier, but it's still not an amp I would recommend [no offense intended at all].

I am going to let the subs break in a little bit. But right now they sound VERY nice. The boss responce is awesome. They are 2ohm Dual voice coil. I have NEVER seen a dual voice coil speaker in an 6.5" size. They can handle 150w RMS.

And as for the AMP, it was hard to find one with a better warrenty. It makes 65x4 at 4ohms at 12v. It makes 115x4 at 2ohms. It is underrated since I would be making more power at 14.4 volts. It also has a 3 year warrenty.

Well Kevlo, glad you like it. My brother had cm3 components (braxially mounted) in his MX6 with a 125 x 2rms on it and its actually a very solid set. Nice tight, snappy and forceful midbass with that power- had no prob being xover at 80hz.

But the solidity of your doors, being its non -dampened will be the culprit for your xover freq due to resonance, airspace, power given....play around and set it as low as you can before it bottoms out at the highest level of volume you'd typically play it..

I really hope you consider, when you gather some more time/motivation, to dampen your doors/rear deck-I promise you you'll get the best from your investment.

Good luck

those are some beefy 6.5's...are they mounted on a baffle?

are you trying to keep them conceiled under the OEM grills? if so maybe an mdf ring/plate underneath the rear deck can work nice solidifying them..

Yeah I want to made MDF baffles for the front and rear. I just need a jigsaw.

It sounds really good right now, so it will only sound better with the MDF.

Yeah, when I first saw the pic, I thought it was a beefy 10" sub, and that you were running 4 awg wire for the sub - talk about overkill. Of course reading helps a bunch.

I'm not sure if you have a location like this in the 4th gens, but my grounding point is near the pass through area.

Diamond Components M361.....

These are soon to be installed on my max. Planning on flush mounting the tweeters to replace the stock tweeter grille. How are your setup?

I'm pumped to hear them, i'm pushing 75w to them with a 13w6v2 so i'm pumped to get it all set up. But was curious to see how you did the tweeters. Nice job on the setup btw

The M361's are awesome man. The tweets are VERY nice and not too high, they don't hurt my ears.

Okay, I sanded down my ground point so I know its good. What else could it be? The RCA's? I am using the ****ty RCA's that came with the WalMart amp kit.

Do you know anywhere else I can get it cheaper?

Also anything else that could cause the whine? HU ground or anything? Or can the amp ground and RCA's only cause it?

It could be tons of things. Is the chassis of the amp completely isolated from any metal surfaces? The rca's could be picking up whine depending on how they were ran, there's alot of things that could cause it....

Good idea on the 6.5" subs in the back. I haven't seen too many people go with that type of setup. I wish I could hear it to see how it sounds.
I would think that an mdf ring would help a bunch on the front speakers since they are mounted to that stock plastic piece at the moment. The subs, however, are mounted direct to the metal on the rear deck though so it probably isn't worth taking the seats out again and redoing it. I'll bet they are nice and snug enough already.

I have rubber spacers, but the bolts are touching metal so it is touching.

Try mounting a piece of MDF to that mounting location and re-mount the amp, it may just do the trick.

How do you like those ED 6.5's as far as bass response?

Will do.

The ED's are WONDERFUL. They are very nice and clean. I need to add more damping and I will be set.

Is the bass response as good as say a small subwoofer? Or is it just as good as a 6.5 can be? I just sold my system tonight to some kid in town. Definately thinking long and hard about getting a pair of those.
