went over bump now speakers don't play
As the title says. I went over a bump in the road and the car hit pretty hard. When it hit the speakers stoped playing. However the sub will still play and that is it. Other than that I am getting no sound thru the speakers (all 4). What could this be? I replaced the deck thinking I had burned up the internal amp on the deck some how. With the new deck in it still does not play. The weird thing is that it will play for like 2 seconds everyonce in a while then the speakers will stop playing again. I am guessing I have pinched a wire somewhere, but where? Anyone good with this stuff I would appreciate any advice. Thanks.

It is very weird that all four would go out at once when they do not have a central point of contact. The only thing I could tell you is to check the impedance behind the deck to each speaker to ensure they are connected.

My brother just called and told me one of the terminals on a rear speaker is bent and when he pushes up on the speaker all the speakers turn on. So he just has a screwdriver wedged in there holding the speaker up a little and all the speakers are playing. So what is the problem? and why would one connection on a speaker affect all the others?

It sounds like that speaker lead was touching ground somehow. This is why I asked you to check the impedence of each speaker, if you did this, it would have told you right away that you literally had a "short circuit". Good thing you found it now, because this could blow your HU as there is very little resistance (i.e. < 4ohms) the HU would have ran hot and they smoked. Some HU's though have internal protection, buy mostly on the newer ones.

I fixed it when my brother came over last night...somehow the one of the terminals on the speaker was bent up and was smashing down on the rear deck, so I pulled the terminal back out straight and plugged the line back in and everything works fine now.

Post 8 should tell you that I explained this to him what would cause it after he explained about the speaker terminal.
I believe you were trying to quote me when I first stated it was "weird". If you don't get it, never mind.
