Burning DVDs need help!
Burning DVDs need help!
well i just got my new DVD unit installed and when i tried 2 burn the first cd i made it a VCD. it took 2 hours to burn and then it didnt work. I used NeroVision to burn the dvd. Next i tried to burn a regular DVD. It took it 12 hrs just to transcode the files. WHATS UP WITH THAT!! i canceled the transcoding bc i was tired of waiting. how can i cut the time down? can anyone help or point me in the right direction?
lol wtf? are you burning a file from your HD? or are you just copying a disc? nero sucks. find a different program, ive only had problems with it... im using DVD-Xcopy..
also why are you making a VCD and not just a DVD? this might be your problem.
need more info man..
EDIT: also, DVD-RW's seem to work better if youre just copying a file from your HD. dvd-r's won't work as well. only problem is, dvd-rw's are mad expensive.. but they are way more compatible for stadard dvd players.

you say you have to trasncode the file, are you saying it was just a movie file of some sort and you have to turn it into a DVD format basically? so your player can read it?
if so, id suggest just getting the files that are already in dvd format (this would consist like two folders, Audio_TS and Video_TS) . so whereever youre getting the movie files, get them in dvd format originally, as its a royal pain to turn them to dvd format which im sure you've found out.
regaurding DVD-xcopy, it can be purchased online. all of this is why im considering putting a car-puter in my car vs. or in addition to a dvd player.. then you could play virtually any file..

Anyways. The files im burning are in MPEG format i believe. i just download them from Kobra Videos.
Roxio DVD Builder take about 1 hr to burn one DVD with 10 tracks
Try 320x240
maybe your files are too big you dont need more than 320x240 unless you are watching the music videos on a plasma tv
I also use TMPGenc plus 2.5 works like a charm, it compresses, fix color and a bunch of other stuff.
I Hope this helps

is that the software you use to compress the videos?
are your files in .VOB, .BUP. and .IFO mode?...because if they are BACKUP avi format files ...you may need a program called dvd santa to convert the BACKUP files from avi to dvd....also a program called Intervideo DVD copy is really good in BACKING UP files from your hd to a DVD only ofcourse after you converted the proper BACKUP FILES with dvd santa to a specific folder...if you need more inof about BACKING UP your videos send me a pm and ill be glad to help you.

and also, what does it say when you put a dvd in the player? disc read error? oh and for more info on carputers, visit www.mp3car.com .. a couple people here have them, they're really cool.
ya when i put in the VCD it just said disc error. i never got around to burning the dvd bc it was taking 12 hours. the files are in mpeg format. i just download then from kobra videos. where do you all get yur videos? what format do they need to be in to burn them on a dvd?

to play vcds in most dvd headunits you need to change the header of the mpg due to the bitrate. you need to use tmpegenc and mux it. basically you save the header as a svcd.
as for burnt dvds in the dvd headunits most are media specific ie ritek, princo, ty, ridata, prodisc.

well its still taking about 2hrs for me to burn a dvd and half way through the computer just shuts off. its all plugged it. idk why it just turns off, it just goes "BLUP." so idk maybe nero is buggy or something. idk its starting to **** me off.
nero has always been the best burning program i've ever used. just because they don't let you copy a commercial dvd doesn't mean it's a POS. learn to use other programs like shrink and TMPEGenc. i can't stand roxio and dvdxcopy.
also, as stated before, if you want faster burning, upgrade your computer. my friend used to backup his dvd's with a P3 550MHz (took about 8 hours). my P4 2.5GHz will do it in less than 2 hours with the best possible quality.
