!!!!!!!!!Need to Supply Alot of Current to Alot of Amps (HELP)!!!!!!!!!

Ok I'm going to be using 3, class "a" tube amps for mids/tweets and 1 class "a/b" amp for subs. The tube amps consist of a modified tu300(bench tested, 175x2@4ohm), a tu600(150x2@4ohm or 300x2@2ohm, I'll be using it at 4ohm), and a tu4360(75x4@4ohm or 90x4@2ohm, I'll be using it at 4ohm). The '"a/b" amp is a usa3000(1500x2@1ohm or 3000x1@2ohm).

Fuse ratings: tu4360-40a, tu300-60a, tu600-60a, and usa3000-450a.

I was told that 1/2 the fuse rating is the amount of current you need to supply (on average when playing "music" not "sine waves") so this means I need to supply 305amps. Right?

I know I need an ho alternator and at least one extra battery (I was thinking about getting a(or 2) Stinger SP1700).

I need to know how many amps the alternator needs to be, where I can get an ho alternator, how many batteries I need, if I need a battery isolator, and what is the best way to wire the batteries together.

Thank you (in advance) for your help/response.

Simple formula...

Multiply the amp RMS rating by 2..ie: 1Kw X 2 =2Kw

Total wattage 2Kw = 166.66A draw
----------------
12V

This is just a generalization. Actualality would depend on how efficent the amps are primarily.

i know you're the guru, but wasn't it divide by like 13.4 or 13.8 or something since the alternator puts out more than 12 volts?

Some Napa stores are starting to carry HO alternators (trying to get into the import scene) Or you can cruise around the net, there are quite a few places that sell them.

Don can set you up with the stingers i believe they said in another post.

you can also check mean green, and the mechanical man for ho alts. They ususally sell an updated harness and bracket to make them go in with no modification.

That can't be right...

My xtant x1001 is 1000wrms and the fuse rating is 120amps. If I used your formula, that would mean the amp draws more current than the fuse can supply(fuse would blow). Also, the JL 1000/1 is rated at 1000wrms and the fuse rating is only 100amps.

Yes actually it can be right. That is how amperage draw is measured. Efficency will make a difference. Thats also at 12V

2000/14.4=138.888...
The arc 2500xxk (class a/b) is rated at 1050rms and it has three 30a fuses (90a). It also says that the max current draw is 135amps??? This doesn't make sense to me. It looks like you're right, Don (which you should be because you do this for a living and you know ALOT more than I do). I just don't understand how a fuse can let more current pass through it than its rated for.

That formula is a way to rate the absolute peak current draw of an amp. I need to know the average current draw and I think its 305a. I need to know what size(in amps) alternator I should get and how many batteries I would need for 305a.

figure it isnt going to be @ peak current draw all of the time. With music being dynamic unlike test tones, you should be well under the peak fuse rating.
