BOSE vs. aftermarket

Stole this from a Nissan 350z site, but I thought it would be pretty educational. The pictures speak for themselves

Odd .. I have what I thought was a more substantial amplifier under the rear deck to the right of the subwoofer .. curious now if the PO added anything. (I'll check further when it's not 3:30AM or 18 degrees outside.)

If it's got no highs, and it's got no lows, theres a good chance, you're listening to Bose.

One of the guys at my job always says something similar to that when he hears someone talking about Bose sound systems . He always starts with "you know what they say about Bose right...". I think he says something like if it has no highs, and it has no lows, it must be Bose.

mine were a little beefier than that as well...they lasted about four hours before being yanked, ... looks like youll have a nice setup when you get it all in.

anybody know if you can run aftermarket speakers safely off the bose head unit?

i'm looking to take my system to the next level and i'm wondering how it would work, what with the bose mini-amps and all.

if you can, do you leave the mini amps in? remove them?

i'd love to know if this is a plug and play because i do like the sound of the bose just fine, but if i could squeeze some better quality and mids out of it, itd be pretty cool.

if you're gonna go aftermarket for the speakers, then you should go aftermarket on the head unit too.

if anyone has any INTELLIGENT information about running aftermarket speakers on a bose head unit, please let me know. i've heard something about a line output converter but i'm still not sure.

lets just say with the attitude you really wont have a good time on the site

the reason that he is telling you that is that the bose amplifiers work at a different ohm load than your standard car audio equipment. as well theres a loopy pre eqd sound from the hu instead of standard flat out reg signal. make sense? just swap the radio and enjoy the site.

Keep your attitude and all of your "9 lives" will expire quite quickly on this site.

Replace w/ what?

I have a bose system in my 98 SE. it has the 2 speakers in the front doors and the 2 in the rear. if i remove the bose system, what should i replace it with. as well, would it be difficult to put 2 speakers in the rear door panels as well?
