Subwoofer / Amp recommendation

Guys, here is my situation. I have a pioneer FH-p8800 Head Unit. It runs to a Rockford Fosgate 4 channel amp in the back. The amp goes to the components. I have 4 mb quart components. Two are in the front doors, and two in the rear deck. In the rear doors, I have 2 JL midbass components [not hooked up to any amp].
There is also currently no subwoofer [not even stock] in the car.

Do you see a point for me to hook up the JLs? Or are they better left disconnected?

Also, I would like to put in a subwoofer in the trunk. I was thinking of only putting in one to save on trunk space.

Sounddomain has a bunch of woofers around $100.00 Are they complete crap?

I would like to build the box myself.

Anybody have recommendations for a sub + amp for around $ 200-300 ?

If I was to amp the JLs, I would need a 3 channel amp?

Thanks for your help.

EDIT: I listen to all kinds of music, but I like heavy bass as in rap/r&b

Before you buy anything go to a few reputable car audio shops and listen to some of their setups and then decide...

You don't need the JL's..

So which model RF amp? You may be able to run all the components off the front channels and the sub off the back. Depends on what the output power is on that amp.

I believe it is 100w * 4ch

I see cardomain has a special deal...

2 Infininity Reference 12" for $100.00
Is this a good deal?

What kind of amp would I need to power them both?

I guess I will leave the JLs disconnected for now.

Need a model number, that would help. Some are 2 Ohm stable and some are 1 Ohm stable. The T4004 that I have is rated at 100W, but at 1 Ohm it's a different story.

The Infinities are good. Didn't see the special though. From what I saw they need 300W RMS each.

No need to hook up the JL's.

$150 for a 600 Watt mono amp or a stereo amp that's 2 Ohm bridged stable. Not sure where you're going to find that.

MTX Audio Thunder5500 T5510-44:

would this power the two infinitys above?

Don, I am waiting on your recommendation too.

Basically, any amp+sub combo around 200-250 bucks.

Thanks again guys

Some of the audiophiles don't really like planet audio, but I think for a budget system and for running subs they are fine. MTX also makes pretty good d-class amps and can be had off of ebay for cheap.

wish i would have seen this sooner, I just got rid of an old school lanzar optidrive 500.2 for 105$. I would personally and this is just me but i would look at the polk momos. Good output and can be found pretty cheap. accurate sound and clean for what they are. Also the pioneer 1500spls or the 2000s can get you what you want for little of nothing. I started with four of them and they hit lol.

I am not looking to spend that much on just a sub, but on both amp + sub.

What do you guys think of this:

http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/MTX-1...oductDetail.do

?

What amp is good for that one?
I would like to get it at Circuit City, because I know someone who works there, so I could get a nice discount.

have you considered a Kappa Perfect? Rarely mentioned on here but they really do sound quite good and can be gotten fairly cheap, crutchfield has the 12 inchers for 179. You can get cheaper elsewhere online but you can't beat crutchfield for warranty and service when it comes to online sales. That leaves you with money for amps as well, especially if you decide to buy the speaker elsewhere.

Edit: I noticed you said circuit city...if you're going to get through there...i would check out what their discount is first...the car audio markups are pretty high i worked at best buy one summer and the markup is kinda ridiculous on some items. Once you see what that discount is then decide, but if buying from CCity then go with kicker or MTX, either one really but i'd be more partial to kicker myself.

The only reason I picked one that is so expensive, is because of the large discount I would get.

Get the infinity's from crutchfield. they hit pretty good if you power them adequately. I have them running off a LA sound 900watt amp (bridged) and it sets off car alarms when im down the street.

Now another question...

When I go from the RF amp i have now to the XXX amp i get [dont know yet]

Can I connect them to the same ground point? And do i splice the power cable to form a y cable and go to both?

Also, I have 1 set of 4rca cables from HU going to RF.. do I splice that to send them into sub amp?

Thanks again.
