Ok guys,

I know that you can take MP3's and burn a regular CD-R that will play in (almost) any audio CD device. HOWEVER, I know that it will have to expand the MP3 to CD Audio format, so you can only make a 74 minute CD.

If you burn actual MP3 files to a CD-R (so you could conceivably put 150 or more songs on it), there are a *very* limited number of car audio devices that will read them.

A. Am I right?

B. Does anyone know what high-end LCD units will read MP3's off a CD-R? like this one, that I'm about to buy, no one seems to know if it will:

hey thanks as usual

MP3 / CDR

MaineI30,

I currently own and use a Kenwood 8017 as it can read
CDR's and CD-RW's in addition to playing MP3's from disc.
I have several MP3 albums burned to disc at various sample
rates (128KBPS-100%VBR) and the only variance has been in volume annd not in fidelity.

As I have a 5th gen with the radio in a prominent position on the dash, I like the Kenwoods more stealth appearance.

MaineI30....

i agree with Brandon90gxe and look through crutchfield, they have the products. there aren't many MP3/CD players out, and the one that you're looking at doesn't seem to offer that, if it did, it would have been in the description, because MP3 playing capability is pretty big right now in the car audio field. but it looks as though you want one of those DVD/CD players, i haven't seen any like that. i say that you try and figure out if you can get a DVD/CD player AND a MP3/CD player both to work(i think you can), so you can get something like this:

and

i know that it is a lot a money, but its everything you'll need, and it also looks as though you are loaded

Yeh, ideally I'd actually like one with a full LCD screen etc... like the Alpine IVA or the Panasonic I linked above. I'll check out the crutchfield links... I was also considering getting that panasonic AND a Rio Empeg in-dash.
