Shaved Antenna

Who here shaved their antenna and how did you end up regaining the radio? I heard somewhere about an internal antenna that stays hidden in the trunk, but not sure of how true or how good this would be. Any help would be appreciated.

No one that I know of has shaved their antenna (only disconnected the motor), but I'm sure there's someone out there who has.
I believe there is another "secondary" antenna already intallled in our cars which is in the back window (along with the defroster, so you don't notice it), and it should work quite well, even without the main "mast" antenna.

I have my antennae shaved, reception is total crap. It will depend on where you live and how good the radio stations there are, but the antennae in the rear window does not work well. I don't care anymore since the car no longer has a stereo, but when it did, I had very minimal reception. Most stations came in, but very full of static and they faded in and out.

Car looks great without the antennae , but if you care about reception, don't do it.

dont do that if you like the radio, but if you mostly listen to CDs go right ahead.

but i woundnt do it.

after market antennas

Places like Pepboys or Crutchfield sells aftermarket antennas without masts, there's one with a cell phone style mast that can be mounted on outside of window. Crutchfield also has ones you mount inside of car. I saw the invisible one you talking about on their website too, the antenna is simply a small block attatched to the wire which doesn't require any mounting.

ive seen on the Long Island Expressway a maxima with a little black stub for a antenna it looks really goood i wonder where he got that done also...

my antenna came broken or disconnect but the recpection on my stock BOSE is still good. No problems with it.
