Sirius and Eclipse

Ok...I'm 99.9% sure that I'm going to make the jump from Alpine to Eclipse (had the 9833 - going to the 8445) and I am wondering if I need to pick up a new Sirius tuner for the Eclipse deck. I have the SIR-ALP1. Anyone know if it will work with the 8445?...my sneaking suspicion is "no".

Thanks.

Yes ... new unit. They're all proprietary ... except the FM Modulated ones ...

well the reason that i didnt like it was because.. first the screen was alll hazy and gross looking (real hard to see)... second the eq that is built in isnt all that good to begin with... even in "advance" or "what ever its called mode"
it was really hard to tune it for good sound...( it didnt sound as good as my deh-8600).... i did like the 8 volt output idea... untill I found out that my amps only accept 4 volts max..(not like there are too many amps that do 8 volts anyway)....... lastely i have an ipod and really like the direct adapter and you cant use it with this radio... thats pretty much it...

I guess to each their own, although these are all first time complaints that Ive heard on that unit. On the other hand Ive heard and seen Tons about the 8600/860.

Actually theres not many amps that can't handle an 8V input. Nothing reputable that Ive run across so far...

well... the pioneer has lots of great options... which the elcipse doesnt....
as for quality... would u agree that the screen sucks? the pioneer has a crisp clean display.. the eclispe is hazy and grainy and hard to see... i really did like the way that the eclipse was constructed, i liked the motorized face it seemed real solid, and the 3 year warrenty... but the pioneer has it beat in terms of features... and sound quality at least to me...

No I wouldnt agree about the screen and Alot of customers feel the same. In terms of SQ the Pioneer sounds better to you? Its all good, its your car, your ears.

What Useable features does the Pioneer have it beat with? I dont mean iPod connections and pretty Dolphins dancing around.

We are just going to have to agree to disagree on this one my friend.

BTW, of the few 860s that I sold, the majority of them came back and needed warranty work. Some of them twice......
