This will give a signal to the bose, but not amplifying it. therefor it wont blow the speakers?

Exactly. It's like using low level inputs. Rca inputs to an amp just to the bose amps.

ok, but each speaker has a + and - wire, so that would be 8 wires. How do u splice 8 wires to an RCA?

Two wires to each FL FR RL RR, I think. I'm not 100% sure on that part.

Damn thats not right. I think you have to wire it to the stock bose harness not the aftermarket harness. One input to each wire.

Yea, i like to keep it simple

So nismo, do u think my bose will eventually blow hooked up to my alpine, or should it be fine?

And if i did come down to replacing the speakers, would that be a ***** for audio noobs such as me and tatanko, i mean would i be ditching the PAC alltogether if i have to get rid of the bose speakers

No they shouldnt blow unless you play them past the point of distortion. If you replace the speakers you just have to run new wires to the doors and to the rear speakers out of the headunit. Not hard to do at all. Especially on a 4th gen.

Good news

Maybe the recent downfall of my bose headunit is a good thing afterall. I mean i have a $300+ alpine headunit sitting in my basement but i didnt want to get into installing it because of the hassle of dealing with the bose. I mean if it aint broke, dont fix it. But now it is broke! So im probly gona keep it simple and put a bid on a PAC on ebay and install my alpine. Ill be sure to post pics when shes in, shes very nice.

I put a Pioneer HU in my boy's Maxima. He has BOSE. I used the harness that came with the HU and one BestBuy gave us. I soldered the wires for each harness together. Color codeing is very easy. Make sure you wire the blue amp wires together. The only thing I noticed is that the volume is very sensative hooked up this way. Not too bad because the headunit has a volume level control setting.

So if i got my **** straight that harness that bestbuy gave u must have been similar to the PAC, or something that doesnt amplify the bose amps. Or else

RCA's are line level (low level) signals coming out of the HU

Every RCA plug has a + (the pin in the middle) and a - (the "shield" or ground ring on the outside).

FR FL RR and RL each x 2 conductors (+ and -) makes your 8 wires.

edit: If you take a good set of RCA's and snip off a plug, you will see the two conductors

None of that made any sense to me Like I said, I'm an audio idiot...gotta put it more simply for me. I also suck at wiring...so I'm looking at the simplest, least work-involved solution here.
1-Remove Door Panel
2-Remove screws from speaker pod
3-Remove Pod from door
4-Look at little section with amplifier.
5-see 4 wires
6-Clip the two that dont go to the speaker
7-Put new speaker in pod
8-Write the wire colors down
9-Put speaker pod back in, put door panel back on.
10-Repeat on other side.

Radio
1-When you look at the plug on the back of the radio you will note the wire colors you just wrote from the doors and rear speakers.
2-Plug these into the corresponding wires on the wiring kit (IE if you copied pink and green for the lef front, look at the wiring harness and the two wires that are left front get connected to the pink and green. So on and so on.)

Requires NO WIRING outside of clipping two wires and taping them at each speaker.

IE Like i said pics on my sounddomain.

Ehh...I think I'll stick to just soldering a few wires when I get the PAC. I really don't feel like tearing all my doors apart again.

This is exactly why I took Circuit Citys free installation offer with any HU bought from them because I didnt want to mess around with the BOSE system!

Hey guys , this thread has been pumpin today huh, i just went to the movies and another page has been added

Since us audio noobs are gettin so much attention might as well jump in with another question

When using the PAC and the original bose speakers, will the 40 x 4 watts from my alpine be powering the speakers or will this watage not be used and the alpine will simply signal the bose amps and turn them on and power the speakers

Signal is supplied to the bose only. No amplification.

Figured as much.

Then again, if there was amplification, the speakers would probably blow, right?

Not necessarily they would be using the inputs as high level inputs which could still work as long as you don't turn it up too loud. Depends on how picky the bose amps are.

P.S. You post ***** you... what'd u do count'em?
