alright WOO i got anxious so i went and fooled around with it.

The problem was the gain controls were too low for one, and also when i put the HU back into its space the wires were getting squished together and causing the distortion.

so i turned the gain controls up and fixed the volume problem, but was having trouble situating the wire harness and PAC in such a way that they didnt interfere... :-/ o well, at least i know the problem

Good, good...now I know that I need some sort of wire-spacing solution when I go to do mine. I hope to avoid a few headaches other people have had...

Wires can be bundled up as tight as you wanna put them. Just make sure BARE wires arent touching. Use butt connectors/crimp caps. If you don't have any, let me know and I'll MAIL you some.

I've got plenty of spare cash laying around to pick little things like that up should I run into any problems. I may not be audio savvy, but I know not to let bare wires touch. Momma didn't raise no fool

Wish I had plenty of spare cash lying around.

Tell you what. You mail me that, and since you have plenty, I'll mail you nothing in return.

By spare cash I meant like $50...which is a lot relative to the price of tiny little things like butt connectors

Depends on how much you need. I spend about 5 times that a month on misc parts...

PearlMax, you said you never use the PAC unit. What do you use instead?? I guess I missed it in the past 9 pages.

Thanks for the help man.

By splicing RCA cables from the back ur headunit to the speakers wires on the bose harness

Nismo i got this right , right?

No need to by the PAC or an aftermarket harness?

How bout a power antenna adapter thingy?

Correct, splice in RCA's

No need for any harnesses except $3 worth of RCA's that you will snip anyway.

You will always need an antenna adapter with an aftermarket HU.

I thought that was correct, however, wouldnt there be 8 speaker wires, 4 speakers each having a + and - wire, so how would u just twist 4 of them together and then connect them to one of the RCAs, and then again to the other?

Ya I know it was just a silly q about the Arc. I was wondering about the bridged/L+R/stereo switches and how to set the switches with a 4 channel input (fronts + sub) But I figured it out. It sounds good. I think I need to play with the tunning quite a bit though. All in all a very nice and clean sound. Bass reproduction is very good. Next step will be a new set of matched components up front when I get REALLY tired of whats up front, for now I'm good

If you have 4 RCA's (Front AND Rear) channels, then you will have 4 rca x 2 conductors= 8 wires.

Well i went with an adapter and it worked out great. Went to a local car audio store and they had everything i needed. Bose adapter, wiring harness, antenna adapter, and dash fittings. The dash fittings where made by metra and took a little custom work but it looks great. The bose speakers sound good if not better, however the high pitched "s" in some songs comes in a little bit distorted, hard to explain. Now i ran into a new problem, i push the BAND button on my apline headunit to switch from cd --> radio and i get nothign, CD keeps playing , and the radiostations do not appear on the screen. When i was plugging in the antenna to the back of the headunit i remember hearing my antenna come up, and i know i connected the power antenna wire together on the wiring harness. What is up? could that button just be busted? i really dont want to rip my dash apart again

You have to press the source button, not the band button.
